God Thoughts

Whether we realise it or not; whether we want to know it or not, we need the Word of God.

When Satan tempted Jesus to turn stone into bread Jesus said: "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD'" (Matthew 4:4).

We are spiritual beings, who have a soul and live in a body. The food our spirits need comes in the form of the Word of God, so we cannot continue feeding our bodies three meals a day while only feeding our spirits once a week when we go to church.

In the first place we need the Word of God to be born again - "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17). Only when we hear the Word of Christ will faith come into our hearts and will we be able to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour and be born again.

We also need the Word of God in order to grow spiritually, to be changed into the image of Jesus - "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord , are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18).

We need the Word to help us renew our minds - "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2).

We need a daily washing with the Word - "...so that He might sanctify her [the church], having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word..." (Ephesians 5:26).

The Word tells us who God is, who we are in Christ and instructs us how to live our lives to the fullest - "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

In the parable of the sower we see the constant battle for the Word. The devil will either steal it or use some form of persecution, or temptation or things like worry and the desire for other things to get us to let go of the Word. He knows as long as we hold fast to the Word and believe the Word our lives will work. We will be able to walk in victory and we will be able to receive what we need from the Lord.

It is of the utmost importance to feed your spirit daily with the Word.

Don't neglect it.

If you have to, set aside some time in your dairy to make sure you get your daily Word-dose.

Satan will fight you on this, but don't let him win the fight.

Make reading, studying or listening to the Word part of your daily routine.

You will soon see the difference in your life!
