God Thoughts

While listening to a teaching by Andy Stanley I got a revelation I want to share with you today.

Andy read some verses from Romans 6, I am quoting verses 8-14: "
Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace."

Notice that we are the ones who present the members of our bodies to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, or to God as instruments of righteousness.

I wrote down these thoughts on those verses:

Satan doesn't have a body, so in order to kill, steal and destroy he has to use the body of a human to do it.

He tricked Adam and Eve into giving him their bodies to use, and by doing that they presented the whole human race to him as potential bodies to use. We therefore don't have a choice, we simply obey our master, who is Satan, and we sin.

But then Jesus came and He bought us back with His life, His blood.

Notice, He didn't trick anyone into giving themselves to Him as Satan did, He died everything legally and paid the price He had to pay to buy us back.

Those who believe in Him have now been set free from Satan, his rule in our lives and sin.

Now we have a choice.

Satan and sin is no longer our master so we have the legal right to refuse him the use of our bodies.

We also have the legal right to allow God to use our bodies.

We choose, for it is either going to be God using our bodies for righteousness, or it is going to be Satan using our bodies for unrighteousness.

Now here is the revelation: there is no middle ground!

You see, we never use our bodies for what we want instead of what God or Satan wants, even through we might think we are using our bodies for ourselves.

If we are perfectly honest, we will have to admit we are always presenting our bodies for use by either God or Satan, and when we think we are using our bodies for what we want instead of what God or Satan wants, we are in effect most of the time still presenting our bodies for the use of Satan and sin.

To whom will you present you body as an instrument?
