God Thoughts

In the eighteenth chapter of the book of John we read about Judas who came to the garden where Jesus was gathered with His disciples. He came with the Roman cohort and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees to arrest Jesus.

When Jesus saw them He asked, "'Whom do you seek?' They answered Him, 'Jesus the Nazarene.' He said to them, 'I am He'" (John 18:4-5).

Notice the word 'He' is in italics, because that word isn't in the original manuscript, but because it makes more sense to have the word 'He' in the sentence in order to complete it, the translators placed it there.

If we take the word 'He' out of the sentence, we are left with Jesus answering them, 'I am...'

This is exactly how God introduced Himself to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:14).

Just think about all the different words we can place after the word 'am' to complete the sentence and to describe who God is to us.

I AM your Father.

I AM your Saviour.

I AM your Healer.

I AM your Provider.

I AM your Protector.

I AM your Restorer.

I AM your Helper.

I AM your Comforter.

I AM your Intercessor.

I AM your Teacher.

I AM the One who anoints you.

I AM the One who empowers you.

I AM the One who enables you.

I AM your Righteousness.

I AM your Redemption.

I AM your Wisdom.

I AM your Sanctification.

I AM your Life.

I AM your Light.

I AM your Resurrection.

I AM the Vine.

I AM the Good Shepherd.

I AM the Bread of Life.

I AM your Lord.

God is the Source of all things good. He is to us what we need Him to be.

What do you need today?

Let the Lord be whatever you need Him to be.

He is more than willing.

I AM....?
