The other day while praying I asked the Lord to help me have a successful day.

I had just been reading Joseph's story in the Bible, so the Lord brought a passage I had read to mind. In Genesis 39:2-3 we read: "The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realised that the LORD was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did" (NLT).

And in verse 23b we read: "The LORD was with him and caused everything he did to succeed" (NLT).

He also reminded me of this passage in Joshua 1:7-8: "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do" (NLT).

The world would like us to believe we can achieve success through hard work and determination. It seems to be true because there are many successful people out there who got their success through hard work and determination.

However, this kind of success often doesn't last.

We can only achieve real success by doing things God's way.

Real success comes from knowing and obeying God's Word.

As believers, we know God is with us, and when we obey God's Word and do things His way, He gives success in what we do.

There will be times when we have to work hard. There will also be determination involved because we need to be determined to obey the Word regardless the cost.

But you know what, it will be worth it in the end.

We will see the kind of success only God can give.

And it will last!

So don't just rely on hard work and determination to bring the success you want. Study the Word and obey it. Then trust the Lord to give you success in all you do as you do things His way!
