"Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged" (Matthew 7:1-2).

A few days ago Hubby was doing some weight training. As I walked passed the room, I glanced in and thought, "He has no form. He's lifting the weight in this 'all over the place' kind of way. He's not paying any attention to form."

The next day I was doing my Pilates routine with Robin Long from The Balanced Life. This month the focus is on good form, so she's leading us through some of the basics of Pilates to make us more aware of our form. And to my dismay, I realised my form isn't all that great either!

And I thought of Matthew 7:1-2.

Don't judge others. The standard you use to judge will be the same one by which you will be judged.

It is so easy to judge those around us. I guess it makes us feel better about ourselves and give us this sense of superiority.

But what a shock when the Lord brings it to your attention that you are doing the exact same thing or something worse!

We are not in the position to judge other people. We don't see their heart, and we cannot read their mind. We don't always know the 'why' behind their actions.

God is the only One who knows it all. He knows what is in our hearts and our thinking. He knows our reasons for doing something as well as the attitude behind it.

He can direct us in life because He sees the big picture and He knows us intimately.

Maybe you've also fallen into the trap of judging others. Let us confess that sin before the Lord and ask Him to help us refrain from judging others. Let us rather pray for them.

God can do something with our prayers but not with our judgement!
