NEW BEGINNINGS

The first of September.

Here in South Africa it means the beginning of Spring!

Children normally get the opportunity to exchange their school uniforms for everyday wear, so when you drive past a school you see all these different colours instead of one colour.

The fruit trees in our garden are in full bloom and the big oak tree has this light green shimmer and if you look closely, you see the tiny green leaves.

Conscientious women use the first couple of days of Spring to spring-clean their houses and maybe there are some men who do the same in the garage.

All over the place one sees new beginnings.

God daily gives each one of us an opportunity to begin again.

Those who haven't been born again have the opportunity to believe in Jesus and be born again - a brand new beginning: "
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Those of us who have been born again also get the opportunity to begin again, but in a different way. When the Lord shines His light on any darkness in our lives, we can turn from that darkness to the Lord and allow Him to help us overcome any sin in our lives: "
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

May this time of new beginnings signal a new season in your own life.

May you grab each opportunity the Lord offers to begin again with both hands.

May you see new blossoms and green leaves in your life, and be like the righteous man in Psalm 1:
"
Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on His law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not witheró
whatever they do prospers.
"
