In John 8:44 Jesus tells us some things about Satan: "He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (NIV).

Satan is a liar and the father of lies. He continuously feeds us half-truths or outright lies. Sometimes we notice it's a lie before we have time to believe it. Unfortunately, there are times we fall for what he has been telling us, and we believe his lies.

We are going to take a look at some of the most common lies Satan tells us. We will also look at the truth from God's Word to help us refute those lies and believe the truth.

The first lie Satan uses on all of us is this one - I am good enough.

Every single one of us used to believe this lie. And there are still people who believe it.

Satan convinces us that we don't need God; we can save ourselves.

According to him we just have to do enough 'good things' to be saved and go to heaven.

However, that is not what God says.

He says we can't do anything to save ourselves: "We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind" (Isaiah 64:6, NLT).

He says there is only one way and that is Jesus: "Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6, NLT).

He gives this opportunity to be saved to all people: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

We just have to believe in Jesus and receive what He did for us: "But everyone who calls on the Name of the LORD will be saved" (Acts 2:21, NLT). "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God..." (John 1:12, NIV).

We as believers already believe in Jesus and are saved. But what about those who are still believing Satan's lie? How can we help them?

We can pray for them. We can ask the Lord to open their eyes to the truth.

We can tell them about Jesus and testify about the wonderful things He has done in our lives.

Jesus commanded us to love; we can love them and show them His love.

We can live our lives in such a way that everyone will be able to see Jesus in us.

Do you know anyone who still believes this lie from Satan?

Start by praying for them. Ask the Lord to show you if you should talk to them. If not, ask Him to send the right person to tell them about Jesus. Love them and live in a way that they can see you are a child of God.

And trust the Lord to do what you are unable to do - to walk a journey with them and bring them to the point where they see Satan is lying to them. To help them see the truth about Jesus and to believe and be saved.
