God Thoughts

Every religion we humans 'invent' have one thing in common: a bunch of rules and regulations you need to obey in order to have the god's favour on your life and, more specifically, to allow you entrance into heaven.

God gave the Law to the Israelites for more than one reason, but one of those reasons was to show them, and us, that we cannot save ourselves by keeping certain rules and regulations.

In fact, the Law intensifies our sin instead of getting rid of it.

Watching people who try to obey a law in order to be close to God or a god, we clearly see our inability to keep even one small law.

Think about Adam and Eve.

God only gave them one instruction: don't eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And they couldn't even obey that one instruction, so why do we think we can keep a whole lot of rules?

The Lord showed us we need a Saviour - Someone to step in and do what we can't do.

Unfortunately we often still try to keep the Law to earn God's favour or to get Him to help us fix a problem or give a solution to a certain situation.

We have to remember that we are under a New Covenant.

Under the New Covenant it is all about Jesus, what He has already done for us, and receiving that by faith.

God doesn't expect us to obey Him before He loves us or in order for Him to be good to us and help us.

No, He wants us to obey Him because we love Him.

Rules are good.

We need rules to have order and to have boundaries.

But keeping rules will never bring us closer to God.

Keeping rules will never give us right standing with God.

Keeping rules will never save us.

We need a Saviour.

And there is only one Saviour...

...only one Name under heaven has been given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Come to Him.

He did it all.

He did it for you.

Believe it.

Receive it.

Be made new, alive to God, dead to sin.

Jesus alone can save you!
