I was very tired the other night. Not so much my body, it felt more like I had a tired soul.

So I went to the Lord and began to talk to Him about it.

I reminded Him that He said we should come to Him when we are weary and heavy-laden and He would give us rest (Matthew 11:28).

I was there to receive the rest He had promised.

Then He reminded me of three verses in the Word. Each one covers a different part of us as human beings - our spirit, our soul and our body - promising us that He will renew and restore each of these.

The first is found in 2 Corinthians 4:16: "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."

The second promise can be found in Psalm 23:3: "He restores my soul...."

And our bodies are covered in Isaiah 40:30-31: "Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

Jesus gives us rest. He renews us. He restores us. He gives us the strength we need.

So whenever you are tired or weary or heavy-laden, come to the Lord Jesus.

He will give you rest and restore you.

Quickly take a look at the previous sentence.

Do you see the word 'rest' in the word 'restore'?

I never noticed it before, but I find it interesting that 'rest' is part of 'restore'.

We all physical rest, but sometimes we need spiritual rest and soul rest as well.

Whatever kind of rest we need, it can be found with and in Jesus, because He is our Rest!
