God Thoughts

Did you know that the effectiveness of God's Word in your life has been left up to you?

You see, the Word of the Lord is always true, but since He created us with free choice, how effective the Word is in your life is your choice.

In 1 Thessalonians 2:13 we read: "For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe."

Let me ask you a question.

Do you believe?

Then according to this verse the Word of God is performing its work in you.

Now lets see what Matthew 9:29 says to us: "Then He touched their eyes, saying, 'It shall be done to you according to your faith.'"

Again we read about faith. From this verse we come to understand that we determine how much the Lord will bless our lives and use us for His Kingdom, because according to our faith will it be done to us.

Hebrews 4:12 teaches us the following: "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

When I believe the Word, I bear fruit, because my faith releases the power of God's Word in my life.

Now we get to the practical part - how do I combine the Word with faith?

1. Believe it - Biblical faith is believing something is true because you believe Someone is truthful. Do you believe the Lord is truthful? If you do, you are sure that everything He says is true, so you believe His Word.

2. Act on it - My actions and the way I live my life need to support what I say I believe. James explains it beautifully: "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead" (James 2:26). When I say I believe something from the Word of the Lord, I need to act on it. Someone said it this way: "When you act on the Word of God, the Word of God acts on you!"

Remember, the effectiveness of God's Word in your life is left up to you.

So believe it and act on it, and you will see it work in your life in ways that will bless you and leave you glorifying the Lord for what He has done in your life.
