"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."
(Ephesians 5:15-17)

In these verses, Paul warns us to be careful of the way we live our lives. He instructs us to understand the will of the Lord so we can use our time wisely.

Time is something that goes by so fast. It feels like yesterday when we celebrated the beginning of a new year, and it's almost time to do so again.

The time that we've spent is lost forever. If we've spent it foolishly, we can learn from our mistakes and begin to use our time in a better way. But we can't get back the time we've wasted.

A friend of mine lost her uncle this past week. For a long time, a rift existed between her family and that of her uncle's. Though they resolved it before he died, all that time in between, when they could have had a relationship and made memories together, is gone forever.

She cried when she told me how sad everyone was about the time they've lost, that they couldn't get back.

We can learn something from their sorrow.

We need to take a good hard look at our own lives and assess our relationships. Are you in a relationship where you don't speak to one another because of something that happened in the past? If you are, then be the first to make a move and apologise. Don't wait for tomorrow might be too late.

Loving people, especially our family members, is so very important. We can't take our stuff with us to heaven, but our people will be there with us.

Let's not waste time with grudges. It is God's will for us to walk in love. Let's use our time wisely and obey Him in that.

PRAY WITH ME: Lord, help me love as You love. If I need to forgive someone, help me do it. Help me see others through Your eyes. Heal all my relationships, so we walk in love and peace with one another.
