God Thoughts

Journal | Need prayer? | Previous thoughts | Upliftment | About me

Today I want to share three of my journal entries with you. The entries is a message in itself, but I also want to show you how the Lord repeats the same message over and over until we get it, or to confirm something He has said to you.

15 August 2015:
This morning I thought about Kellie [Copeland Swisher] saying the Lord poured out worship on her and how she now worshiped Him in an entirely new way. She encouraged us to ask the Lord to pour whatever we need out on us. I though about asking Him to teach me to whorship Him in a way that was pleasing to Him. As I was thinking about this, a thought popped into my head: In the past I have asked the Lord to teach me certain things, but I can't really see Him doing it. Then another thought popped into my head: It takes time to learn things. And God's methods are so gentle and gradual I don't even realise He is teaching me. When He is done teaching me about something I will never forget what I had learned and I will never go back to being the way I was before I learnt what He had taught me.

16 August 2015:
The Lord confirmed to me what He had said yesterday. In his sermon Ray [our pastor] said the Lord is gentle and He ministers to us gently and slowly. I need to allow Him to minister to me and to change me and mould me.

17 August 2015:
Had to read Ephesians 1-4 in preparation for Bible Study on Tuesday. As I was praying before reading my Bible the Lord prompted me to read it from The Message translation. And there it was again: "God can do anything, you know - far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us."

As you can see the Lord spoke to me about the gentle way He teaches us and that it is a slow process. It is so gradual we sometimes don't even realise He is teaching us something or that He is changing us into His image.

In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus invites us to come to Him to find rest. In verse 29 He says: "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

These verses in The Message translation reads: "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

Jesus desires to teach us the unforced rhythms of grace.

He wants to teach us how to live freely and lightly.

And because He is gentle, He works in a gentle way.

Come to the Lord.

Allow Him to teach you. Allow Him to change you and mould you.

He is so gentle, He will always do it in a loving and gentle way.
