GOD GAVE US HIS... POWER

We have been looking at some gifts the Lord gave us, things that were His very own, that He chose to give to us. Some of these gifts make us who we are in Christ and others we are to use to help us live life and do what He has called us to do.

We spoke about Him giving us His Son, His Holy Spirit, His Word, His righteousness, His faith, His peace and His Name.

Today we are going to have a look at God giving us His power.

When we were born again, the Lord gave us a new spirit. In 2 Timothy 1:7 we read about this new spirit: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

In Ephesians 3:20 we read: "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us...."

God's power isn't somewhere out there, it's inside our spirit. It's at work within us.

But we have to know it is in us.

That's why Paul prayed this for the church: "I pray... that you may know... His incomparably great power for us who believe." (Ephesians 1:18-19).

And when we read the rest of Ephesians 1:19-21 we discover this amazing fact about the power of God, working in us: "That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come."

The power of God, working within us, is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead!

That divine power has also "granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence" (2 Peter 1:3).

How awesome is that?

God gave us His power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, to work in us and through us so we are able to do everything He tells us to do, for we aren't supposed to do it in our own strength, but in His power.

Remember, you have not been given a spirit of fear, but one of power.

Don't let God's power within you go to waste.

Do whatever He calls you to do in His power.

Let it work within you and through you.

The results will be amazing!
