God Thoughts

Yesterday we spoke about God giving us His righteousness and that we now have peace with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ.

As you see in the headline, today we are going to speak about God giving us His peace.

I believe there are a number of ways the Lord gives us His peace.

The first way God has given us His peace is through Jesus, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), who paid the price for our sins. Now we are not guilty before Him anymore. All our sins were punished in the body of Jesus, so God isn't angry with us nor does He still punish us in some way for our sins anymore.

We can now come to Him, even when we have sinned, and confess our sin and know He has already forgiven us and we can simply receive that forgiveness and thank Him for it (1 John 1:9).

How wonderful to know we have peace with God because He Himself made peace between Him and us and then He gave us that peace as a gift.

A second way the Lord gives us peace is when we come to Him with our cares and our troubles. In Philippians 4:6-7 we read: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Giving al our worries and anxieties to the Lord, trusting Him to take care of us, puts us in a position for His peace to overshadow us and guard our hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. As we see from the verse God's peace surpasses all understanding. Yes, we may not understand how He does it, but if we do what Philippians 4:6 tells us to do, we will definitely see God's peace manifest in our lives.

The third way I believe the Lord gives us peace is when we simply focus our attention on Him. The first part of Psalm 46:10 tells us to "be still, and know that I am God." It is in coming to God and being still before Him, focusing on Him and who He is that we find peace. Again He gives us His peace as a gift, pouring it out into our hearts when we just keep our eyes fixed on Him, for He is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Do you need peace in your life today?

You don't have to go far to find it, for it is found wrapped up in Jesus.

Just come to Him and receive it.
