GAVE US HIS... MIND, LIFE, ANOINTING AND NATURE.
We have been taking a look at a number of things God gave us as gifts. These things were His very own, but He chose to give them to us in order to make us who we are in Christ and to help us live the life He called us to live.
Today I want to share a few verses from the Word with you that tell us about some more gifts the Lord gave us.
When we were born again, the Lord gave us the mind of Christ:
1 Corinthians 2:16:
"For 'Who has known the mind of
the Lord, that he will instruct Him?' But we have the mind of Christ."
2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
God gave us the mind of Christ and through His Word we conform our own minds to His so we think just as He does: Romans 12:2: "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
The Lord also gave us His life.
Someone once said people who are born again often say they gave their lives to the Lord, but that is actually not true. We didn't have any life to give, for we were dead in our sins. We came alive when Christ gave us His life, so when we were born again we didn't give Jesus our live, He gave us His!
"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to
Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst…'"
John 8:12: "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'"
John 11:25-26: "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?'"
John 14:6: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me…'"
1 John 5:20: "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life."
God also gave us His anointing as a gift.
1 John 2:27:
"As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit – just as it has taught you, remain in
2 Corinthians 1:21-22: "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, 22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge."
1 John 2:20: "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth."
And even though Isaiah 61:1-2a speaks of the Lord Jesus, it also speaks of us, for we have been anointed to do the same: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord..."
Finally, the Lord gave us His nature.
Peter 1:3–4: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful
Romans 8:29: "For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers."
And once again, just as with the mind of Christ, the Word helps us become on the outside what we already are on the inside: 2 Corinthians 3:18: "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit."
God is so wonderful!
Giving us gift upon gift, blessing us day after day in so many ways.
Let us glorify Him with the gifts He gave us and use them the way He intended.
Let us thank Him daily for giving us these precious gifts!
