God Thoughts

Today I want us to look at just one verse from the Word of God.

In Luke 12:32 we read these words spoken by Jesus: "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom."

Have you noticed that Jesus often tells us we don't have to fear?

I guess He did that because He knew there would be so many things in this world that scare us and that Satan would tell us lie after lie to scare us even more and tempt us to fear instead of have faith in God.

So once again Jesus comes to us and says, "Do not be afraid..."

To see why Jesus says this, we need to look at the previous verses.

In these verses Jesus gives us the promise that we are worth so much to God He even numbered the very hairs on our heads. He also says the Holy Spirit will give us the words to say in any situation, and then He cautions us to not worry about what we will eat or drink or wear. He instructs us to trust God to provide for our every need.

We see we don't have to be afraid of anything, for God has given us His Kingdom and we are right now living as citizens of His Kingdom.

But I want you to notice something more about verse 32.

It says our Daddy God had chosen to give us the Kingdom. He wasn't forced to do it. He didn't do it because He felt sorry for us. No, He chose to do it and He did it gladly! In another translation it says it was His good pleasure.

God gave us His Kingdom because He loves us.

Let us live our daily lives in righteousness, peace and joy as citizens of His Kingdom (Romans 14:17).
