God Thoughts

Did you know that grace isn't just God's unmerited favour?

It is that as well, but it is so much more.

Grace is also God's empowerment.

It is Him doing in us and through us what we would never be able to do in our own strength.

Romans 8:11 tells us: "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

From this verse we learn that the Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. We also learn He is living inside of us.

Colossians 2:12 teaches us the following: "For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead."

Here we learn that God's mighty power raised Christ from the dead.

Put these two verses together and we see the Holy Spirit, through God's mighty power, raised Jesus from the dead. And that same Spirit, with that same power, is living in us.

That power of God is called 'grace'.

Romans 5:2 says that we gained access to the grace or power of God through faith in Jesus.

Do you realise what this means?

It means the Lord enables or empowers us to do everything He tells us to do.

When He tells us to love others, He enables us to do that by His grace.

When He tells us to witness to others, He enables us to do it by His grace.

If He should tell any of us to do something extraordinary like build a new church building dept free, He will also enable us to do it by His grace.

And for those who face difficult situations and who feel they can't go on any longer - run to the Lord! Access His grace through faith and receive the empowerment to keep standing and keep fighting, to keep going on and not give up.

It is because of this grace or empowerment of God that Paul was able to say: "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

We can say the same thing, and see it become a reality in our lives just as it did in the live of Paul, if we access God's grace through faith.

We can come boldly to the throne of grace (unmerited favour and God's empowerment) and receive mercy and find grace (unmerited favour and God's empowerment) to help in time of need.

Don't let the enemy convince you that you are not able to do what the Lord has instructed you to do.

Come to Him in faith, and find the grace or empowerment you need to obey.

You can do all things because God empowers you to do them!
