| About me
Yesterday we spoke about the invitation from Jesus to come to Him.
He issues that invitation to everyone regardless of gender, race, current religion or position in live.
To those who accept the invitation He gives an instruction: "Believe in Me!"
We see Him saying this over and over in Scripture.
"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in
John 14:11: "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves."
John 12:36: "While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light."
John 20:27: "Then He said to Thomas, 'Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.'"
Why does Jesus instruct us to believe in Him?
You see, all human beings are in desperate need of a Saviour and the fact is, we can't save ourselves, only Jesus can save us.
So for our own sake, for our own good, He instructs us to believe in Him so He can save us.
A person can only be born again through faith in Him.
The only way to be in right standing with God is through faith in Him.
Only through faith in Him can we have peace with God.
We enter into the Kingdom of God and become part of God's family by having faith in Him.
But what does it mean to believe in Jesus?
John Piper writes the following about this question: "First, it means first believing certain historical facts to be true. Belief is not a leap in the dark. It has foundations and content. It is based on what really happened in history. But believing in Jesus means more than knowing true things about Jesus. It means trusting Him as a living Person for who He really is. This is why Jesus spoke of simply believing in Him: "Believe in God, believe also in Me" (John 14:1). Believing in Jesus is more than believing about Jesus. We trust Him." (1)
Believing in Jesus means I trust Him with my whole life.
I trust Him that He is Who He says He is.
I trust Him that He did what He said He did.
I trust Him that He did it for me.
I receive all He did for me by believing it is true and trusting Him.
Jesus is giving still giving the same invitation - Come to Me.
And when you come, believe in Him and you will be saved.
That is His promise to you!
